Dr. Guru N. Reddy received his training in Gastroenterology, Liver Diseases, and Nutrition at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. He completed his Fellowship in 1988. Dr. Reddy has been in private practice since 1988 and served on the clinical faculty of Baylor College of Medicine. He is the founder of Digestive & Liver Disease Consultants, P.A. Upon completing his Fellowship in 1988, Dr. Reddy opened one of the largest gastroenterology and liver clinics in Houston, Digestive & Liver Disease Consultants, P.A. For his professional contributions and achievements in the field of gastroenterology, Dr. Reddy is regarded as an icon in his specialty. He is recognized as an excellent clinician, superb endoscopist, champion of empathetic patient care, and is the recipient of several awards and accolades.
Dr. Reddy is voted to Houston's Top Doctors and recognized in “Top Docs,” H-Texas Magazine consecutively from 2006 - 2019, as well as Houstonia Magazine 2013 - 2018. He is also recognized as 2006 America's Top Physicians by Consumer's Research Council of America - 2006 edition of America's Top Physicians. He has also been in the “Top Physicians in the United States” by Newsweek Magazine for two consecutive years. Dr. Reddy is recognized for the treatment of his patients with utmost compassion and care. His endoscopic expertise and skills involve performing all Gastrointestinal Endoscopies, including complex interventional pancreatic and biliary endoscopic procedures such as ERCP (Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography), Double Balloon Enteroscopy, and Endoscopic Ultrasonography. He has pioneered over the years in introducing newly developed endoscopic procedures for the first time to the North Houston communities. Dr. Reddy has performed thousands of colonoscopies and established an evidence-based colorectal cancer screening program in the practice.
His comprehensive training also in Liver diseases (Hepatology) and Liver transplantation at Baylor College of Medicine facilitated him to develop a very large liver practice. He provides these services through an outstanding team in the office with the latest therapies for patients suffering from acute and chronic liver diseases. The Liver Center in the practice is dedicated to the care of these patients. Dr. Reddy believes in always listening to his patients thoroughly and earns their confidence prior to performing any tests or treatment. He also strongly believes in "patient education," and at every step of the practice and the endoscopy center (Memorial Hermann North Houston Endoscopy & Surgery), comprehensive education materials are made available for patients. He is a regular speaker and speaks on diverse gastrointestinal and liver disease topics for physicians, nurses, patients, and others. Dr. Reddy has spoken at many regional, national, and international meetings.
Dr. Reddy was elected to serve as “Chief of Staff” of Houston Northwest Medical Center, Memorial Hermann Northeast Medical Center Hospital, Icon Hospital and also served on the boards of these hospitals. He is also the Founding Board Member of Kingwood Medical Center.
Dr. Reddy has been elected to serve as President of Houston Academy of Medicine in the year 2008 and President of Harris County Medical Society in the year 2011.
Dr. Reddy takes pride in establishing an outstanding patient-friendly GI Center in North Houston today. He cannot contain his enthusiasm in quoting, "Our patients today enjoy the entire experience in our center and constantly thank us for it. This is the best that has happened in my life."

The wait time was reasonable and definitely worth it after meeting and communicating with Dr. Reddy. His quiet demeanor was refreshing as he listened intently to my concerns, and I never felt rushed to finish quickly as I have with other doctors. He recommended two necessary procedures, and I was able to schedule them both for the following week. His staff also called the day after to check on me.
Dr Reddy is a very smart doctor. He takes care of his patients and has a wonderful staff! It’s very busy at the surgery center and you may have to wait a while but when it is your body’s health, his knowledge and expertise is worth the wait.

The visit this year was uneventful and Dr. Reddy just as skilled and professional as ever. The nurses are awesome, very good at what they do, and very kind in how they do it.
