About Dr. Bidhan Das

Dr. Bidhan Das is an internationally recognized colorectal surgeon, with over 13 years of experience in providing cutting-edge colorectal care. He is widely known for his innovative approaches, particularly in minimally invasive surgeries, and for his dedication to patient-centered care. His areas of focus include colorectal surgery, advanced colonoscopy, and the management of anorectal conditions, among others.

Dr. Das introduced Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) protocols to the Houston medical community, revolutionizing patient recovery times and improving clinical outcomes. His expertise encompasses a wide range of procedures, including minimally invasive surgeries, advanced colonoscopic techniques, and the management of various anorectal conditions.

Dr. Das co-founded the Daniel Lehane Colon and Rectal Cancer Tumor Board at Houston Methodist Hospital, fostering collaborative, multidisciplinary care for patients with complex colorectal cancer. He also established the Colon and Rectal Surgeon Center of Excellence for InterStim Sacral Neuromodulation, a groundbreaking treatment for fecal incontinence, further enhancing the quality of life for his patients.

Dr. Das is deeply committed to providing inclusive care. His pioneering work in transgender surgical care, specifically the creation of the Colorectal Surgical arm of the Center for Transgender Medicine, demonstrates his dedication to ensuring that every patient receives compassionate, affirming care.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Das is a thought leader in his field, serving as the host of “GUT CHECK,” a national podcast sponsored by the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons (ASCRS). Education + Trainings

Dr. Das began his medical career at Yale University School of Medicine, where he earned his medical degree and was awarded the Howard Hughes Fellowship for excellence in medical research. Following this, he completed his surgical residency at Harvard Medical School, where he trained under the guidance of the esteemed Dr. Josef Fischer.
