About Dr. Howard B. Hamat
Dr. Howard, a Top Gastroenterologist and Colonoscopy Provider, completed his fellowship in Gastroenterology at the prestigious University of Toronto in 1995. He stayed in Toronto for an additional year to do advanced training in Inflammatory Bowel Disease and Therapeutic Biliary Endoscopy. Upon completion of his training, Dr. Howard moved with his family to Houston to join Digestive and Liver Disease Consultants, P.A. where he has practiced since 1997.
Dr. Howard specializes in treating patients with diseases of the liver, bile duct, pancreas, and gallbladder as well as diseases of the esophagus, stomach, and intestine. He also has a special interest in taking care of patients with all types of inflammatory bowel disease, including Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. He is a previous Vice Chair of the Medical Advisory Board of The Gulf Coast Chapter of the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America. Dr. Howard is an expert in performing endoscopy, colonoscopy, and ERCP, having performed well over 20,000 procedures during his career. He has chaired endoscopy committees at several hospitals and is a past Chief of Staff at Memorial Hermann Northeast Hospital.
Dr. Howard is board-certified in gastroenterology and has successfully completed the required board certification examination every ten years, with his most recent score being among the highest in the nation. When he is not taking care of his patients, Dr. Howard enjoys fishing, swimming, healthy eating, and spending time with his family.
